Consistent formatting

What existing functionality needs improvement?

We need consistent formatting (newlines, quotes etc) in common files (YAML, JSON and others).

Expected Behavior

prettier is my choice, but I'm biased. Alternatives?

Additionally, we can support IDEs with editorconfig

Fan of google yamlfmt for yaml formatting.
https://github.com/caarlos0/jsonfmt may be a decent tool for the json stuff given its also go based.

I'd prefer rust / go tools if we can - less security vulnerabilities typically than JS and faster.

I'd suggest we use pre-commit or this newer rust-based drop-in tooling.

This implements the common stuff (newlines, yaml format) natively and is easily extensible to add more (go format, md format etc).

I prefer this tool because we can write once and run both locally on commit (users can skip if they desire of course) and in CI. Saves cycles compared to just in CI
