This phase establishes the Wallet Abstraction Layer — a universal interface that decouples the entire Moistello frontend from any single wallet implementation. Currently, every auth page, contribute modal, settings page, and wallet component directly calls isFreighterInstalled() and connectFreighter() — functions that check for exactly one browser extension: Freighter. This is architecturally equivalent to hardcoding a Stripe API key into every checkout button. It makes the application fragile, impossible to test with different wallets, and locked to a single provider.
What this phase delivers is a unified WalletAdapter interface that every wallet provider implements, an Adapter Registry that discovers available wallets at runtime, a Session Manager that handles persistence and reconnection, and four browser extension adapters (Freighter, xBull, Rabet, Albedo) that are the first concrete implementations. After this phase, no code anywhere in the Moistello frontend will reference window.freighterApi directly. Every component will call walletRegistry.connect(selectedWalletId) and receive a consistent response regardless of which adapter is behind it.
The architectural significance cannot be overstated. This is the difference between an application that works with one wallet when everything is perfect, and an application that works with any wallet under any conditions, including wallets that don't exist yet — because any future wallet can be integrated by writing a 50-line adapter implementing the interface, with zero changes to any page or component.

This is deliberate. Phase 1's core value is architectural — establishing the abstraction. Adding dependency weight before the foundation exists is backwards. The adapters are pure TypeScript wrappers around existing browser globals.
The central decision of Phase 1 is the shape of the WalletAdapter interface. Every adapter, across all six phases, must implement this exact contract. Once defined, it must not change without a migration plan.

For the Adapter Registry detection algorithm:
Failure Mode 1: Adapter freezes during isAvailable()
Symptom: Detection stops at the frozen adapter, subsequent adapters never checked
Detection: 10ms timeout per adapter. If elapsed > 10ms, log warning and skip.
Recovery: Timeout handler skips frozen adapter, continues to next. Degraded: frozen adapter not in list.
Failure Mode 2: isAvailable() returns truthy for wrong extension
Symptom: User clicks "Freighter" but xBull is actually installed
Detection: Extension ID mismatch during connect. Adapter.connect() validates extension origin before returning public key.
Recovery: Return not_installed error. Remove adapter from detected list for this session.

The registry is the central discovery mechanism. It answers: "What wallets are available RIGHT NOW on THIS browser, in THIS session?"

The session manager is the persistence layer. It answers: "Does the user have an active wallet connection from a previous visit? Can we restore it silently?"

Phase 1 uses zero new npm packages. Every adapter is a thin wrapper (40-90 lines each) around browser extension globals that already exist. No supply chain risk introduced. This was an explicit architectural decision — the extension adapter layer is simple enough to not need third-party abstractions.
Each adapter hardcodes the verified extension ID for its wallet. On connect(), the adapter checks the runtime ID before making any API calls.

With zero new dependencies, the bundle impact is minimal. The types.ts file has the largest raw size due to JSDoc and discriminated union types, but these compile away — only the runtime code in adapters and stores contributes to the bundle.
