The Lotus Temple was dedicated 23–27 December 1986 with a gathering of 8,000 Baháʼís from 107 countries, including some 4,000 Baháʼís from 22 provinces in India. On 1 January the temple was opened to the public and more than 10,000 people visited that first day.By late 2001, it had attracted more than 70 million visitors according to Manpreet Brar, a CNN reporter.The permanent delegation of India to UNESCO stated that the Lotus Temple has received over 100 million visitors by April 2014.In 12th-century Jain scriptures, Mehrauli is also discussed as Yoginipura, after the temple. The temple is believed to be built by the Pandavas, during the final end of Mahabharata war.[7] Mehrauli is among the seven ancient locations that make up their state this is certainly present of. The temple has Mughal Emperor Akbar II to its connection (1806–37) by Lala Sethmal. The temple lies 260 yards through the Iron Pillar when you look at the Qutb complex, and inside the Lal Kot wall space, the fortress that is first of Delhi, constructed by the Tomar/Tanwar King Anangpal I around AD 731 and broadened by King AnangPal II in the 11th century who additionally constructed Lal Kot.
