macOS Version

Sonoma

What is your CPU's model?

Intel i7-9700

What is your GPU's model?

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT

Please describe the behaviour in detail.

After the recent NootRX update, whenever I wake my PC from sleep mode and try to play back a video or do something that utilizes the GPU, everything I do on my screen freezes for about 5-7 seconds, then becomes responsive again for maybe 2 seconds and then freezes again like that over and over. I can move around my mouse cursor, but everything I do on my screen happens with a massive delay, and the system only becomes responsive for very short. This didn't happen on the previous versions of the kext, and it also does not happen without the kext. When this happens, no videos can play on the system, and opening display settings in the settings app freezes the settings app completely. I'm running the latest available version of macOS Sonoma as of now, 14.7.1

What should've happened instead?

Continue to run as usual after waking the device up from sleep, without any freezing or video playback issues

If applicable, attach the .gpuRestart, .panic, etc file related to this issue.

I can confirm that this issue does not occur on that build.

It's possible that AMD introduced a bug in the new firmware.

This is working for me too. The more recent one is giving small freezes. RX 6750 XT, Sequoia 15.1.1, OpenCore.

Actually, I noticed that the freeze problem happens much more when using google chrome. Any ideias?

Not sure honestly, I only have issues when waking it from sleep. Also the working NootRX version has heavy performance issues scoring a mere ~98k on geekbench compared to the latest which scores ~160k. I think those issues with sleep are mostly due to the new driver version (which is an issue on AMD's end).

I only have issues when waking it from sleep.

This is exactly the same common symptom in my freezes. If I keep my PC awake, it never freezes. If I let it sleep, it will freeze, exactly like described by OP, at a random time, doing a (seemingly) random thing (though I suspect it could be caused by some API call that the OS does)…

Everyone, I don't need you to reiterate the symptoms over and over. I already am aware of the issue and its symptoms. I'm just busy with other things. Be patient.
