Diagonal crafting recipe for bamboo slabs

I would really like the ability to turn the bamboo plank slabs back into a plank by using the diagonal crafting:

So basically 2 slabs diagonally in a 2x2 crafting grid rewards you back 4 bamboo planks.

That works too! Just trying to figure out a way to revert it back to a bamboo plank without it turning into a mosaic
