# How to Get Your Own API Key from OpenWeatherMap
Follow these steps to get your own API key (APPID) from OpenWeatherMap:
1. Go to the OpenWeatherMap website.
2. Click on the 'Sign Up' button on the top right corner of the page.
3. Fill in your details and click on 'Create Account'.
4. After you've created your account, go to the 'API Keys' tab.
5. You'll see a default API key there. You can use that, or create a new one by entering a name for the key and clicking on 'Generate'.
6. Your API key will be generated. It might take up to 10 minutes for the key to become active.
Now that you have your own API key, you can use it in your projects!
