Requirements:

  • Always cut as a "pointy-top" hexagon (even if the design has a special outer shape), so we can line them up perfectly in a hexagonal grid.
  • 4" × 3.46", which is big enough to be prominent, but small enough to fit ~100 on the department front window.
  • Re-adhesible and non-damaging cling material, so we can stick them to glass and move them around over time.
  • Ability to have transparent regions, since some designs have a special outer shape and just don't look good with their backgrounds filled to white.

Shipping address:

Department of Biomedical Informatics
1890 N. Revere Ct.
AHSB - 6th Floor MS F600
Aurora, CO 80045

Process:

  1. Open this template in Photoshop or Photopea.
  2. Drag /print image into template, with free transform parameters x: 1000 px y: 1000 px w: 100% h: 100%, or use provided guides.
  3. Name the image layer "artwork", and put it below all other layers.
  4. Leave in RGB color space. Vendor actually recommends this over CMYK.
  5. Save template file and rename to name of software/group.
  6. Contact vendor for custom order of ~5-10 transparent, re-adhesible, window-cling stickers (not listed on their site). Attach saved template design. SET has an account with vendor that is already set up with shipping address and tax exemption.
  7. Arrange payment with department p. card holder.

Here is an email thread (to date) between me and a customer rep at Custom Stickers, the current preferred vendor for these stickers. The thread is to illustrate the value of the vendor (real human, good support, free test prints and reprints) and also to document what info was needed and what issues needed to be resolved.
