Changelog

All notable changes to this project are documented here. The format follows Keep a Changelog, and the project follows Semantic Versioning.

The public interface covered by semantic versioning is: command and flag names, environment variables, exit codes, error codes, and the shape of --json output (which is the Dogechain.com API's reply).

0.7.7 - 2026-10-23

Changed

  • Release binaries embed their dependency list, so cargo audit bin can check an installed dogechain directly.

0.7.6 - 2026-10-22

Security

  • Update tokio to 1.54.1 (RUSTSEC-2026-0384), rustls-webpki to 0.103.16 (RUSTSEC-2026-0382) and webpki-root-certs to 1.0.10 (RUSTSEC-2026-0383).

0.7.5 - 2026-10-19

Security

  • Update rustls to 0.23.46 for RUSTSEC-2026-0346, -0347, -0348 and -0349, and other dependencies to their latest compatible versions.

0.7.4 - 2026-10-19

Fixed

  • tx no longer fails in the few seconds after a transaction's block is found, when its time is not known yet; it says "time not known yet".

0.7.3 - 2026-10-11

Changed

  • fees describes the minimum as the least any pool has recently mined (which may take longer to confirm), matching how Dogechain.com now calculates it. Dollar amounts under $0.0001 show as <$0.0001.

0.7.2 - 2026-10-09

Changed

  • fees leads with Dogechain.com's suggested fee for a simple payment and why, then the minimum.

0.7.1 - 2026-10-02

Changed

  • The address-poisoning warning in tx links to Dogechain.com's guide on the copycat trick.

0.7.0 - 2026-10-02

Added

  • Lookups (find, address, tx, block, labels, chart) refuse input that looks like a private key or recovery phrase, with exit code 2, before anything is sent.

Changed

  • supply gives the yearly issuance and inflation at the past year's actual block pace instead of assuming a block every 60 seconds.

0.6.1 - 2026-10-01

Changed

  • dogechain --help, the README and schema link Dogechain.com's Terms of Service, which govern the data the CLI shows.

0.6.0 - 2026-09-29

Added

  • Dollar values at the time, back to December 2013: tx shows what the amount sent and the fee were worth, block the DOGE price and what the reward was worth, and address each history entry's value. --json is unchanged.

0.5.2 - 2026-09-29

Changed

  • watch says when a mempool transaction was replaced by another spending the same coins (a fee bump or double-spend), instead of "Left the mempool".

0.5.1 - 2026-09-27

Changed

  • watch now says that a new transaction's amount is the total of its outputs, including change, rather than suggesting it is the amount paid. watch --min help says the same.

0.5.0 - 2026-09-27

Added

  • dogechain mcp install, status and uninstall: adds the hosted Dogechain MCP server (https://dogechain.com/mcp) to Claude Code and Codex through their own mcp add commands, for your user account or, with --project, the current project (Claude Code). An existing server named dogechain that points elsewhere is kept unless --force.
  • dogechain mcp install --print shows the setup for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Claude.ai and ChatGPT without changing anything.

0.4.0 - 2026-09-27

Added

  • dogechain skill install, status and uninstall: installs the Dogechain agent skill for Claude Code (~/.claude/skills) and Codex (~/.agents/skills), or into the current project with --project, or any folder with --dir. The skill is downloaded from dogechain.com and checked against its published SHA-256 digest before anything is written; copies changed since installation are kept unless --force.

0.3.1 - 2026-09-27

Fixed

  • labels, address and richlist no longer fail on an address whose pool labels conflict; it shows as "conflicting pool labels".
  • fees no longer fails when the median or maximum fee rate, or the next-block estimate, is unavailable.

0.3.0 - 2026-09-27

Added

  • address and richlist mark coins paid to an address's public key ("paid to a public key").
  • transfers_sent listed among the chart series in chart --help and schema.

0.2.0 - 2026-09-27

Added

  • chart --last N: text output shows the most recent 30 points by default (--last 0 for all). --json still returns every point.

Fixed

  • chart printed no dates for daily, hourly and per-minute series, and failed for pool_share, transfers and holder_share.

Changed

  • Hashrate is shown with units (e.g. 2.84 PH/s) and difficulty with thousands separators.
  • holder_share is shown as percentages, and transfers as a count and DOGE amount per size bucket.

0.1.2 - 2026-09-27

Changed

  • Packaging updates. No changes to the dogechain command.

0.1.1 - 2026-09-27

Security

  • Text output now strips terminal control characters (such as escape sequences) from everything it prints, including API error messages, so data from the network cannot drive the terminal. --json output is unchanged.
  • Release artifacts carry GitHub build provenance attestations; verify one with gh attestation verify <file> -R BlockIo/dogechain-cli.
  • Release and CI workflows pin every third-party action to an exact commit.

0.1.0 - 2026-09-27

Added

  • First release of dogechain, reading the Dogechain.com JSON API (/api/v3).
  • Commands: find, block, blocks, tx, address (addr), labels, network, fees, supply, richlist (top), chart, watch, schema, guide.
  • Plain-English output by default; --json / DOGECHAIN_JSON for the API's reply unchanged, with JSON errors on stderr.
  • Exit codes: 0 ok, 1 other, 2 bad input, 3 not found, 4 unavailable, 5 rate limited.
  • Waits out rate limits (Retry-After, up to 30 s, 3 retries).
  • Address-poisoning warnings shown first on transactions, and as they happen in watch.
  • watch --min to show only transactions above an amount.
  • Installers: Homebrew (blockio/tap/dogechain), npm (dogechain), shell script, PowerShell, and prebuilt binaries for macOS, Linux and Windows.
