In the Device -> Configuration, try to detect the target if you can connect and verify the connected device/software version.
IDE for v4 can select both v3 and v4, but v4 OpenPLC runtime is still in progress and not available. Check to see the target version upon first connection, and refuse to connect if the incorrect version is selected - aka running IDE v4.
