Editable Reblogs / Trim Reblogs #227

Trim Reblogs has now shipped with XKit Rewritten v0.8.0! This version is already approved by AMO, while the Web Store will take significantly longer to screen it. This feature takes the form of a control button on editable posts with more than one trail item. However, due to bugs on Tumblr's side, it cannot affect posts which were originally created using the legacy post editor. This means that even if you reblog the post with the beta post editor (or Quick Reblog), it will state "Legacy posts cannot be trimmed". This problem should naturally disappear over time as the new post editor exits beta (thus barring the creation of legacy posts), but for now it means you should encourage your playmates to make the switch for the sake of trouble-free trimming. |

Just to let everyone know, an equivalent for Editable Reblogs will be implemented, hopefully this week.
It won't allow actually editing the reblog trail, but it will allow removing (or "trimming", as everyone seems to call it) all but the last item. This means the common use-case for Editable Reblogs (keeping only your reply, and the immediate context for that reply) will be intact.
The feature is basically built and ready to go, but doesn't work due to Tumblr ignoring the
exclude_trail_items
parameter when editing existing posts. I opened an issue about this at tumblr/docs#57 and was told this would be changed, and I've been told more personally that it should be ready to go tomorrow.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
