In two years there's been 0 people in my area (northern Italy, EU). It's frustrating, I don't uninstall it only because it's Open Source and I hope it can evolve in the future. But it should offer more options to solve that, because without people this app is unusable and deserve not to be installed.
Describe the solution you'd like
- Allow people to temporary telepor and virtually visit different cieties. This feature should have some limitation to reduce fake profiles and criminal activities.
- 1 to 2 cieties per day
- 1 to 2 continents per week
- 7 to 14 teleportation per month
-
Make the app federated with other open source and ethical social networks and dating sites. You should work together, otherwise you'll never win this battle against big tech's dating apps. Open source dating it's still not an option. Make a interoperable protocol that works with other open source networks.
IMO this is the only way the app can grow fast and be actually useful. I just hope it's technically possible for you.
Some federated protocols HERE.
There's also some other open source dating apps you should try to work with HERE
-
The actual referral incentive it's not enough, since there's no people inside this app.
You should offer something more for those who share the app and for those who join.
For many, it's embarrassing sharing this kind of app or it's simply not their style. Then you should offer something to push some of these people to wanting to share it. IDK what you should offer right now, so I don't have specific suggestions here. You guys have to think to something.
Anyway, here some small ideas: a series of profile badges, unlocking some limits, some exclusive aesthetics.
Describe alternatives you've considered
For the suggestion 1, an alternative could be that the app can automatically log or manually save every place an user recently been and want to share. Like a shop, an event, an office, etc.
A map with local buildings and spaces should be implemented so anyone in the area can see who likes the same places. Something similar is being made by Happn and others, but this feature needs a lot of privacy controls and should be limited only to who visit specific cities. This feature could help meet people who frequent the same places as you.
But I repeat, it needs an high privacy control and a strong E2E encryption of these data.
Additional context
The teleportation feature should not be integrated with the alternative described above. Foreign people should not check who where in specific places and when. This kind of data is highly sensibile and should also been E2E encrypted. Many other apps allows teleportation. So you can check how it works on other apps and do it better, with privacy in mind.
However, the app really needs more sponsoring. It's a shame that it has 0 users in my region around 160km with no preferences set. You really need to work on your userbase before anything else.
You clearly need a Social media team, and not casual people but with some expertise and knowledge.
I am a CM and I was a SMM and marketer years ago. So yeah, I have some expertise and knowledge but I cannot afford to do it for free in my spare time. I also do some beta testing and reporting for other open source projects I use, and do suggestions like these to try to help. But that's all I can do in my spare time.
I hope this will help, and that something could and will be implemented. Good job.
I'm here for any question.
