Question about .git-crypt directory

Hello. I have question about .git-crypt directory.
I use gpg keys and after adding key to repo I see new directory .git-crypt. Also I understand that it's normal.
But if I change branch, I don't see this folder, but encryption works fine..
Also I deleted this folder and after it encryption also works fine in all branches.
Could you explain this situation ?
Maybe it's normal behavior and I can to delete this folder ?
