after using vector text does not produce cursor

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. draw using pen, pencil, or shape tool
2. select text tool
3. click and begin to type

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
cursor should appear, followed by letters typed. instead a selected box 
appears, but no cursor, and letters act as commands


In what browser did you experience this problem? (ALL, Firefox, Opera, etc)
Google chrome


In what version of SVG-edit does the problem occur? (Latest trunk, 2.7.1,
etc)
